in Israel, and a third invented by a group of Norwegian scholars headed by Olav Gurvin.2 These machines produce detailed graphs which must be retranslated into something more meaningful than the sample in Example 2-6, usually into conventional notation, with all its faults. But electronic transcription does hold great promise for the future of research in traditional music.
